God’s Unlimited Saviorhood

Faithful is the saying and worthy of all welcome (for for this are we toiling and being reproached), that we rely on the living God, Who is the Savior of all mankind, especially of believers. These things be charging and teaching (I Timothy 4:9-11).

Here we are told that the living God is the Savior of all mankind. Dear brethren, let us carefully consider this statement.

Will God’s will for mankind be fulfilled (I Timothy 2:4-6)? Surely we recoil from any suggestions that it can fail. Yet how many accept and rejoice in this faithful saying? Howbeit, we who believe that God is operating the Universe, we will accept it.

Others seek to limit it to believers, but they overlook the significance of the double statement. That there is a special salvation for believers is plainly stated, but this does not limit the other part of the statement; rather does it emphasize it.

Is There No Effective Saving Plan?

More than half of every generation since Christ died have never even heard His name. Can it be that He Who counts the very hairs of our heads and lets not a sparrow fall to the ground without His notice, has no effective saving plan for these lost human creatures? He Who provides for the fowls of the air, should He not have a plan for every detail of every life and the ability to accomplish it? We believe just such a plan exists.

The Pursuing Love of God

God will seek us. How long? Until He finds us. And when He’s found the last little shriveling, rebellious soul and has depopulated hell, then death will be swallowed up in victory, and Christ will turn over all things to the Father that He may be all and in all. Then every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

God Is Not a Would-Be Savior

… We trust in the living God, Who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe (I Timothy 4:10).

Some would advocate that I Timothy 4:10 suggests that God is some sort of passive Savior; a Savior that offers His hand to drowning humanity but requires man to extend his own hand to be saved. This defies the definition of Savior. God is not a would-be Savior; He is the Savior of all men. He doesn’t only try to be the Savior of all men; He is the Savior of all men. He does not suggest that all men allow Him to be their Savior; He is the Savior of all men. He either is or He isn’t.

The Magnetic Potentate

And I, if I be lifted up from the Earth, will draw all men unto Me (John 12:32).

“I will draw all men unto Me. Thus crystallized, the utterance portrays a magnetic Potentate, drawing to Himself the grand sum total of humanity. It has been too hastily concluded that only here and now are men drawn to Him, and we know that not all repose faith in Him. Therefore, if “all men” are to be drawn to Him, His words await perfect fulfillment. The present era of grace does not exhaust the possibilities of His power, for, as the grand Executor of God’s will, glorious work awaits the Son in ages yet unrolled.

Is Sin Really a Power Equal to God?

To say that sin, assuming it to be opposed to God, has the power of creating a world antagonistic to God as everlasting as He is, attributes to it a power equal at least to His; since according to this view, souls whom God willed to be saved, and for whom Christ died, are held in bondage under the power of sin forever; and all this in opposition to the Word of God, which says that God’s Son was “manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil …” (I John 3:8).

Creation Expressing Divine Thought

March 12, 2019

(Let Clyde read the Goodie for you!)

In creation God gives outwardness, existence, to the highest thoughts of His mind. Everything in creation expresses a divine thought: the divine thought is it’s spirit, that is, it’s real, true meaning in the economy of God, and to apprehend that spirit is to recognize God in His works, and to recognize or know God is life. Thus creation is always consummated in life. That is its end.

The purpose of such creation ever and always, in the last analysis, is life; and since the highest life, or perhaps we can better understand it if we say the highest living, is that of the Creator Himself, hence all creation tends to bring us to the life of the Creator. Thus in an endless but ever-widening circle does God express Himself in creation that man may at the last receive His exact impress. It was only by going out of Himself, so to speak, that God could ever bring man into Himself.
